Wouldn't it be great if you were getting so many clients you didn't know what to do with them all? Setting up a successful legal marketing strategy can result in that happily annoying scenario, and you can turn that into a win-win situation for everyone involved.

You can't take every case that hits your desk, and you usually don't want to. There's a variety of reasons we have to turn down clients, some personal and some just because there aren't enough hours in the day we want to devote to our law practice. Either way, what do you do with these extra clients?

My solution is to refer them to my competition. That's right. Give business to my competitors. Why would I want to help "the enemy"? First, they're not an enemy if you're playing your cards right. They're just another lawyer out there practicing in the same areas you are. Remember that you're the king of your niche, and your law firm is the unique answer to your ideal clients' legal needs.

When you have this established, there's no fear in "losing business to my competition" - in fact, you can send your extra cases over to them! This shows clients that even if you're not taking their case, you're still willing to help with providing them with comparable legal options. This also creates a referral circle with your competitors - you scratch their back, and they'll scratch yours with their own extra clients.
