Train Your Associates to Help You Grow Your Law Practice

The time may eventually come when you need to hire associates. After all, it’s no secret that you can only take your law practice so far when you are completely on your own. However, your mindset regarding your associates can make all the difference in the success of your law firm.  Instead of viewing your associates as additional overhead, think about how they can help you increase your business.

Your associates can be key players in taking your law practice to the next level. To foster an environment that will build your business, you need to create a system that:

  • Helps your associates determine what part of their job gives them the greatest satisfaction.
  • Encourages your associates to take ownership of their careers. You want to teach them how to become independent and stand on their own two feet.
  • Persuades them to build relationships, including those with former classmates, associates and other staff members.
  • Opens the line of communication. Your associates should feel like they have your support and can communicate with you. That will create loyalty.

You are not just a lawyer, you are also an entrepreneur. That means you need to focus on the business aspect of your law practice. Only then will you be able to build a successful law firm.
