What to do When You’re Overwhelmed with Ideas (Part A)

This is something that happens to me pretty much every time I get back from a Great Legal Marketing conference of one of my mastermind meetings. I have so many great ideas for improving my legal business - in my head, in notebooks, scratched on restaurant napkins - that I have no idea where to start!

Most of you are thinking that I should be viewing this as a blessing rather than a curse for my legal business. But believe me, if left unchecked, being bombarded with all these great ideas is going to make you feel overwhelmed. When we get overwhelmed, we tend to accomplish very little, if anything, because there are just SO MANY options.

Organize and Prioritize

One of the best pieces of advice I give for legal marketing is that you prioritize what's important to your legal business. I suggest this everywhere, from when you're developing the picture of your ideal client to when you need to decide on how you manage your time during the workday.

All the ideas you have floating around don't all have to do with the same aspects of your legal business. Some may deal with your law firm's website, building your blog following, creating interesting newsletters, the latest social media trend, or any number of other things. What you need to do is look at all the aspects of your legal business and decide which ones need the most attention.

It may help to organize your ideas into these sorts of categories so you can make prioritizing easier. Honestly, getting your ideas organized into an easier to follow list is going to save you time sifting through all the places you have them stored. Just how you should be organizing everything in your legal marketing, get your ideas all in one spot, because the next step I have for you is going to be the big one.
