Lawyers practicing in the early part of the 20th century and today have something in common. Most of their new clients come from word-of-mouth referrals. One client has a good experience and tells his or her family and friends who, in turn, tells their family and friends.
While networking is not in and of itself an innovative legal marketing practice, the way in which you manage your social media law firm networking can be innovative, and it can be successful if you know how to be social on the internet.
3 Advantages of Social Networking
Some of the advantages of social networking online in the 21st century include being able to:
- Advertise at no cost. Of course your advertisement via social media is going to look a little bit different than other types of ads. You do not want to look like you are marketing. However, that is just what you are going to be doing, and the only cost is going to be your time.
- Change or update your message quickly. When news breaks in your practice area, you can quickly update your Facebook status, Twitter feed, or other social media site to inform your followers or friends.
- Engage in conversations as you market your services. Other methods of advertising do not allow viewers (or potential clients) to comment and engage in conversations. This piece of social networking allows you to build relationships before you even meet your potential clients.
These things just weren’t possible before the development of the internet. Now, however, you have the resources that you need to reach more people than ever.
