A lot of law firms are scared to step outside of their comfort zones because the way they do things is the way they’ve always done things. Hey, you haven’t gone out of business yet, right? So it must be working, right? Now, if you really think about it, you know “that’s how it’s always been done” isn’t the right way to move your business forward.

There are probably many law firms in our practicing area. The other firms might share the same building or even the same billboard. Marketing isn’t an arms race of producing the same weapons at a higher rate than the competition; it’s about finding the new tool that can put you beyond the reach of the competition.

The biggest excuse people have for not stepping out of their comfort zone in law firm marketing is that, “my company is different, my clients are different, and you just don’t understand this city.” The thing is, everyone takes the approach that their firm is different, so they won’t change and everyone stays the same!

If you really want your firm to be different, you have to do something to make it different. Step outside your comfort zone and look into law firm marketing that can set you apart from practices in the same town.

Deciding to take yourself out of the law marketing rut and stepping outside your comfort zone is the first step to a more successful law practice. Change can be a good thing, and it definitely is a good thing if your firm isn’t going the way you want it to right now.
