I have a great staff. Theyve been with me for a long time, and we are like family. Im not sure how I feel about recording their phone calls for purposes of law firm marketing training. What do you suggest?

First, we commend you for hiring a strong staff that is committed to the growth and success of your law firm. We understand and respect your confidence in them, and we trust that they have your best interests, including successful legal marketing, at heart.

We don’t see audio or video recording as a violation of your trust or something that needs to get in the way of your office relationships. We recommend that you tell your staff up front that you are planning on recording phone calls and why you are doing it. Emphasize that you trust them and certainly are not meaning to invade their privacy, but rather you are looking for ways that you can improve your lawyer marketing efforts and increase business for the firm.

Law firm marketing is a team sport. All of you must work together for the success of your firm, and that includes in your attorney marketing efforts.
