Marketing Books Every Lawyer Should Read (Part A)

One of the best things you can do to improve your business is to keep learning. The world is ever-changing and continuing to learn new ways to think about marketing your law firm and accomplish your goals will help keep you on top of the game. When learning about marketing for law firms and legal marketing, the venues and methods are always being revamped. Every day, there seems to be a new expert who's "figured out" how lawyers should market themselves.

I've read a lot of books in my lifetime and I've found a few of these to be tried-and-true guides for legal marketing. Marketing for law firms can be complicated. These books have helped me develop many parts of my Great Legal Marketing strategies and they can be a great addition to your library as well.

The Book That Started It All

Think and Grow Rich sounds a little fishy at first and believe me, I had passed it up a few times while browsing the shelves myself. Then I sat down and read it and that's when I formed the basis of Great Legal Marketing. The author, Napoleon Hill, was asked by Andrew Carnegie to go on a mission and find the "secret to success" from some of the top businessmen of their time. What he found - and discloses in his book - was the 17 universal principles of success that these businessmen had in common no matter their background or profession.

Two More Books to Chew On

Meatball Sundae: Is Your Marketing out of Sync? has a silly title but a powerful message for legal marketing: if you don't change your strategies for legal marketing strategies across the board, you're just putting whipped cream on a meatball. Still doesn't make sense? Get this book - it explains that marketing for law firms is an opportunity to grow the business, not just a one-time sale.

Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion is full of information on marketing for law firms using the psychological foundations of legal marketing. Get in your client's head and make them want you.
